First Visit
Your initial appointment with us is a consultation, a conversation that allows us to understand your denture needs and hopes and to explore with you, your treatment options.
This is a great opportunity for you to ask any and all of your questions. If you’ve had dentures for the last thirty years and know exactly what you want, we can get started right away and skip the preliminaries. If this is the first time you’ve considered wearing a partial or are contemplating extractions and dentures, we may spend your first visit exploring these options.
We know that whether you are looking for a temporary one-tooth flipper to complete your smile or a full set of implant dentures, navigating the options available can be confusing and overwhelming. Our goal is to help you determine the route that will work best for you. We will work with your dentist and/or oral surgeon to help you get there your way. Our consultations are the basis for our treatment plan for you; your situation is unique and we want to find the best solution for you.
Your consultation usually occurs on your first visit with us, but it doesn’t necessarily stop there. Whether you have additional appointments with an oral surgeon, restoration work to finish with your dentist or just have additional questions, we will always be happy to sit down with you.
Along with our initial visit, Jeff, our denturist will perform an oral exam of your teeth and gums as well as your existing denture(s) and/or partial(s). He will also examine any additional information you may have brought with you. After we have an understanding of where you are heading and your expectations, together we will design a treatment plan that best fits your interests and needs.
Please assist us in this endeavor by providing the following information at the time of your consultation:
- Your referral slip and any x-rays supplied to you by your dentist or oral surgeon (not mandatory).
- Photos of yourself and your smile.
- Dental insurance information.
- A list of medications you are currently taking.
Depending on the plan designed, we may need to work in conjunction with your oral surgeon or dentist. We will use this visit to understand each providers role and how to schedule these visits.
IMPORTANT: All patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the consultation visit.
X-Rays
If your dentist or physician has taken x-rays, you may request that they forward them to our office. X-rays are not required for your consultation, however. If we need additional information from your dentist, we can easily contact them after your visit.
